Taking it to Go A bright orange neon go hangs above the door to this swanky village lounge. As the only two letters lit on the title sign, which once read, Chicago Blues, the tangerine figures beckon you to wait. . . And then continue to wait for your once-over entrance evaluation. Reality sets in as those once in queue ahead, make their way back in your direction discussing plan B. Whether you and your company look good enough to actually go is certainly not a guarantee so make sure divine duds and pretty pals are in effect this eve. So you ace your entrance exam (for arguments sake), pay your 20, and head down a dark, bleak hallway until you reach the light at the end of the tunnel. The white light is almost menacing upon entrance, -stunning you, practically setting you off balance... And the smell- like paint, as if the venue was just varnished with a fresh coat. The feeling is somewhat chilly, for the space feels unfinished, and unfamiliar. Mildly bugging out, you choose to go left, to where the drinks are. You slip into your white half-moon stool and order a drink from one of the attractive wait staff in all white, standing behind the white bar in front of a white exposed brick wall. You pay your 10, and turn to check the scene. The stark venue seems to be housing a colorful group of attractive conversationalists, dancers and loungers. The music is eclectic, and somewhat anomalous ranging from trance, to Hip Hop, random eighties to rock, and just about everything in between. After placing an order for your second almost virgin beverage you become aware of the interval lighting scheme, which casts different rays of icy hues ranging from blue to lime, to peach upon the venue. The sporadic changes in ambiance keep the crown alive, mixing it up every couple minutes or so. You look to the right toward the lounge. Here large comfy white sofas sit in front of white coffee tables, behind white velvet ropes. The patrons look relaxed, but alive and enjoying themselves. The crowd here is an attractive group of 25 to 33 year olds opting for a night of lolling verses clubbing at one of New York's new hot spots west. Taking it to go is different than any other lounge experience on the Island. It's up to you whether you wanna go again. GO - 73 8th AVE. NEW YORK, NY
