Come Out and...Sway

Once beyond the carefully guarded velvet rope, one is transported off the street of Manhattan's trendy SoHo to what feels like another time and place. Large colored glass Moroccan lamps hang from terracotta, arched ceiling giving off a warm red light, and creating a romantic, sensual atmosphere.

Rich scarlet walls and red velvet couches set the stage for a late night crowd of yuppies, fashionistas, and Euros who have all come out for an evening at one of the highest grade meat markets in town. Undoubtedly a lounge for the "beautiful people", celebrity sightings are not uncommon.

The music is eclectic, from ethnic beats, to eighties rock casting an unpretentious mood over what can often seem like an affected crowd. The sexy lounge atmosphere proves most conducive to meeting and greeting, conversing and rehearsing for what after hours may bring.

Functioning without a cabaret license, Sway is just about all your meant to do at this appropriately titled night lair which tends to take on the naughty disco-dancing vibe, hours after the law makers have laid their heads. Bumpin til 4 or so, the party reaches its highest peak in the lounge's final hours.

Though not the most refined nightspot in town, Sway's patrons look and feel so good, it's typical to look upon the somewhat tarnished surroundings and view them as charming. Though once a haven for only the New York social elite, and model-slash-model-wanna-be crowd, the strict door policy has become just a bit more lax, maintaining an attractive, yet more eclectic group, and a "feel as good as you look" vibe.

Perhaps your reward for dressing the part and crossing the velvet tape is the free admission. Or maybe it's the exotic and transporting experience that the interesting décor inspires. Whatever the draw is for you, I suggest you come out and Sway. SWAY - 5305 SPRING ST. NEW YORK, NY
